For thousands of years women have surrounded themselves with matriarchs — strong women with the necessary knowledge and experience to bring new mothers along, so they don’t have to handle any part of pregnancy, labor, deliver, or even raising their children, alone. Somewhere along the line, things changed, and many women don’t have the same tribe that we used to. A Doula, or a “servant in labor,” can fill that need. Whether it be preparing your body physically for pregnancy and labor, being a constant source of emotional stability, or easing the pain of delivery, a doula is an amazing source for every mom.

Alicia’s Redemptive Birth
The first time we met Janelle, we knew she was a good fit for us. Though this was my third baby, this is all new for my husband- his first baby! We met with Janelle a couple times before I was in labor and I was able to text her with questions especially nearing my due date. Janelle made sure we had what we needed then left us to soak in our new miracle. Should we have another baby, we know that hiring Janelle would be a necessity. ~Alicia Shidler
